Description
1813 Mexico ½ Reale Milled Bust Ferdinand VII Colonial Period Silver Coin1813 M half real, one of a type struck 1808-14. The "imaginary bust" shown of Ferdinand VII (used because Ferdinand was rotting in a French prison) was superseded by the "standard bust" used 1815-21. Assayer JJ is recorded for the years 1812-21; assayers TH and HJ are also reported for 1813. The disorder of the War of Independence compelled mint officials to open branch mints
by 1813.
Nice circulated example of the type!! These colonial period coins circulated freely in the many
New World colonies of Spain and many were lost in galleon shipwrecks.
The coin imaged is the coin you're bidding on.
