1912 Program, Children's Vaudeville by Cal. League for Protection of Motherhood

Here is the souvenir program of the California League For the Protection of Motherhood Children’s Vaudeville, Oct. 19, 1912, in the Valencia Theatre, San Francisco. The booklet is 10 by 6.75 inches and has 20 pages. The lengthy performance program includes acts by children ranging in age from 2 to 16 and of several languages. Many advertisements by local and national firms are included.
Overall condition is good but the lightweight pages show wear from handling. All pages are stapled firmly in place.
FYI: The program states the organization was formed for the purpose of securing legislation forbidding employment of working women five weeks before and five weeks after confinements; providing payment by the State to employed mothers of a pension amounting to 50 percent of their wages, during their idleness as above; providing for the payment to widowed mothers and affording free hospital facilities for dependent mothers and infants.
