Description
Scarce 1735 Mexico One Reale Early U.S. Colony Silver Milled Toned Bold Cob CoinThis 1735 one real is one of a series struck 1733-41 during the reign of Philip V (1700-46).
This 1735 one real from the Mexico City mint is an example of the first design for pillar fractionals,
where the obverse legend surrounds the periphery.
This design was changed in 1742 to allow the crown
to extend to the rim.
Nearly all colonial pillar coins were heavily used that most of them are in really
low grades. Beautiful uncirculated example of the type!! These colonial period coins
circulated freely in the many New World colonies of Spain and many were lost in shipwrecks.
Recorded mintage: Unknown, Weight: 3.30 grams, Composition: .917 fine silver, Diameter: 20 mm.
